Commitment and Trust

Psalm 31: 5-6

Into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth.  I hate those who cling to worthless idols; I trust in the LORD.

God can be absolutely trusted with my life, my spirit, my future, my everything.  Why would I want to cling to the worthless idols of my pride, my shame, my fears, my possessions?  Why must I be so short-sighted?

Lord, please help me to remember how worthless it is to trust in anything except your redeeming love.  You are the God of truth.  You know my everything, and You will always choose what is best.  Father, I commit myself to trust in You.
