Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for ‘God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble’
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 1 Peter 5:5-9 ESV
Some days, like today, I just want a pass. I am tired; my head hurts. My joints are sore from fluid retention because my heart is not “cooperating.” I want to sit back and demand “why?”
But I want Jesus more. Which means. . .
I wear humility like a sweater. Intentionally put on a submission to my Creator and Savior, to conform to His plan rather than demanding my plan.
I take those thoughts that God is mad or uncaring or just hasn’t noticed, and cast them aside. I choose to pick up and carry the truth that God loves me. He cares for me. He does notice.
I remember that I have an enemy who does not just want me inconvenienced–he wants me destroyed. I must resist him.
The faith to resist the enemy is founded on God and supplied by God. I am never alone or defenseless.
I have a brotherhood (or sisterhood). My situation is not unique. god is not taken by surprise.
Because God is my Master, I will put on the sweater of humble submission to His plan. I will choose not to worry. He cares for me.
