How Knowing I am Prayed for Strengthens me

We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing. Therefore, we ourselves boast about you in the churches of God for your steadfastness and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions that you are enduring. 2 Thessalonians 1:3-4 ESV

It is good and right for me to remember that I am not alone (even on days when I feel isolated); that others are grateful to God for my life and my contribution to the Kingdom (especially on days when I feel weak and of little use); and that I have a responsibility to my brothers and sisters–locally, globally, present and future–to remain steadfast, to never give up, to demonstrate Christ’s love to others.
How does that look?

When I pray — I purpose to be specifically thankful for others. I ask God to make their faith grow as I ask for greater faith; for their love to increase in their sphere of life as I ask for my love for others to grow; I ask for steadfastness and endurance as I plead for the same grace.

I cannot neglect reading God’s Word. Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the Word of Christ. . .Romans 10:17
God is the source and sustainer of my strength. . . .But David strengthened himself in The Lord his God. 1 Samuel 30:6
God’s Word reminds me that my circumstance is not unique or beyond the scope of God’s grace . . .Resist [the devil], firm in your faith! knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. . . 1 Peter 5:9

In my actions — be purposeful to encourage another who may be suffering, or feel alone or invisible. Show them from where my help comes God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. . .Psalm 46:1
Keep reminding myself of the truth throughout the day. God has ordered my day; none of this is a surprise to Him. (Psalm 139:16)

And then remember that this day is truly theday that The Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24
