Hear my prayer, O Lord; give ear to my pleas for mercy! In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness. Enter not into judgment with your servant, for no one living is righteous before you. Psalm 143:1,2
We are totally undeserving of God’s mercy. Yet he tells us to call on Him, and ask as children would a loving Father. I am so thankful that God treats me as a child. He has every right, as the righteous judge of the earth, to pass sentence on me, but through Jesus Christ, I am not found guilty. Jesus took the death sentence, and gave me his righteousness. Mercy!
For the enemy has pursued my soul; he has crushed my life to the ground; he has made me sit in darkness . . .my spirit faints within me. . .I remember the days of old; I meditate on all that you have done; I ponder the work of your hands. . . Psalm 143:3-6
There is so much heartbreak in the world. Racial tensions here in America. Tribal divisions world-wide. Political unrest. Persecution. Famine. Poverty. Disease. I must remind myself of what God has done in the past, what He is doing now, and what He will be doing tomorrow. Even when life seems desperate, God is not surprised. God is not overwhelmed. I must remember
Answer me quickly, O Lord! My spirit fails! Hide not your face from me. . .Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. . .Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. . .Psalm 143:7-10
My trust is in God. Not circumstances, elected officials, or political factions. Remind those in desperate places that Your steadfast love and faithfulness are continual and unchanging. Give me wisdom, Lord, to follow You, and to do Your will.
