Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. . . God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 1 John 4:7-11
Love that considers the highest good of the one loved, rather than the convenience or comfort of the love-er.
God initiated love. God did not wait for me to become lovely to love me. I did not deserve God’s love.
Father, help me to follow your example of love today. Give me wisdom to know what is best for others, not just what is comfortable for me. Help believers to remember your relentless love for them today. Open the eyes of those who do not yet know You to see the lavish gift of love you have given in Jesus. I pray they would accept that free gift and surrender their lives to Your will.
