Read Through the Bible in 2019 – Days 25-31

God is Sovereign. One of his names we see over and over in Isaiah is “Lord of Hosts” or “Lord of Heaven’s Armies.”

Isaiah 14:24, 27 CSB – 24 The LORD of Armies has sworn: As I have purposed, so it will be; as I have planned it, so it will happen. … 27 The LORD of Armies himself has planned it; therefore, who can stand in its way? It is his hand that is outstretched, so who can turn it back?

Eight years ago I had no idea that I would go to the doctor to get a “game plan” for bone spurs in my neck and come out with thyroid cancer and imminent surgery.

I had no idea that a successful cancer surgery would turn to a hypothyroid “storm” that sent my autoimmune disease into ultra-high gear . . .affecting my heart, my brain, my lungs, my esophagus.

I had no idea then I would be where I am now.

But God is sovereign. He is in control. What he purposes, he accomplishes. He has a plan. And it is good.

God had a plan for the demoniac in Mark  5. God had a plan for John the Baptist. We see God’s plan unfold throughout scripture.

God’s sovereignty is such assurance to me.

  1. I’ve been thinking about Isaiah and all the kings’ reigns he lived through. The kings varied from “gung ho for God” to total idolatry. And yet Isaiah remained faithful in his proclamations and faithful to God.
I’m sure there were probably times in his life when he really questioned God. . . “really? You want me to walk around naked for 3 years?” and times when he was in hiding, in fear for his life. But he never quit. He kept proclaiming God’s message until he was killed by Manassah.
How do I measure up? When do I declare with boldness God’s truth? When do I make a stand for what is right, regardless of how it might affect me?
    I’ve been thinking about Isaiah. . .

  2. The part that really meant a lot to me, this week was Isaiah 25 verse1,” O LORD,You are my GOD! I will exalt YOU, I will give thanks to Your Name; For YOU have worked wonders, Plans formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness!”
And verse 4, “For YOU have been a dense for the helpless, A defense for the needy in his distress, A refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat!”
And verse 9, “Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us. This is the LORD for whom we have waited; Let us rejoice and be glad in His Salvation!”
    Wonder promises,and words of encouragement!

I want to know what you think!
