Job 25-42
Even though our readings of this past week also included 1 Corinthians, we will focus our attention on the book of Job, and tackle 1 Corinthians next week.
There is so much more to the book of Job than just the first 2 chapters! What did you learn about God and his ways? On what do your base your belief system?
What about when God begins speaking!! Oh, the lessons in zoology, astronomy, geology, etc. God’s sovereignty is so much more than we can imagine . . .
and I have to wonder if Tolkien had these chapters in mind when he envisioned the great dragon Smaug that Bilbo had to fight . .
Next week we will finish 1 Corinthians in our reading, and dive into the book of Proverbs. God’s Word is amazing!!
Reading JOB has given me a deeper appreciation and respect for God, His Mercy, His Goodness, His Sovereignty, and the list could go on! It also has given me a very different perspective on suffering!
Also, in chapter 32 Elihu gives us a lesson istening. He waited to speak, listened to thier reasonings, pzid close attention to them and, did not discredit God! Futher, even though, he was fullof things he wanted to say, the spirit constrained him verse 18. He was about to burst..and when he did speak Elihu, showed no partiality or flattering words!
I recently found some really good quotes on Suffering..John Piper, ‘Suffering is apportioned to us individually designed, expert therapy by the Loving Hand of our Great Physicians. And it’s aim is that our faith might be refined, our holiness might be enlarged our souls might besaved, and Our God might be Glorified!’ ” A two-fold purpose of suffering, 1 demonstrate God’s and Glory, and 2 To refine’sJob’s(our) rightousness.”
Oswald Chambers.”To choose suffering makes no sense at all, to choose God’swill in the midst of our suffering makes All the sense in the world.”
Fredrick Buekner, ” Wishful Thinking.’ God does not reveal His grand design. He reveals Hhimself! We really saw that while reading Job!
