Matthew 8:23-27 ESV – 23 And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. 24 And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. 25 And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” 26 And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. 27 And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?”
O Lord,
When unbelief and doubt assault my mind and heart, remind me of Your sovereignty over all. You chose a wife for Isaac and led his servant to her; You protected Rebekah despite Isaac’s lies to foreign dignitaries. You calmed storms and healed sick and cast out demons. The more I read and study Your Word, the more I see Your sovereign rule and power. You are God, and there is no other!
I don’t want to be wise in my own eyes. I want to fear You and turn from evil (Proverbs 3:7-8 ESV – 7 Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and turn away from evil. 8 It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.) I want the refreshment that comes from release from worry and doubt.
Thank You for being my Father and my God.
amen
