Why I Do What I Do

Maybe this post should have been on January 1 . . .

I have already had a few questions — are you feeling better, Bev? why are you posting now? The answer is quite simple. . .

an incurable, progressive disease progresses. The goal is to slow the progression. However, my faith does not re-gress Psalm 119:30-32 ESV – 30 I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I set your rules before me. 31 I cling to your testimonies, O LORD; let me not be put to shame! 32 I will run in the way of your commandments when you enlarge my heart!

For years I have been following a “through the Bible in a year plan” — chronological, blended, McCheyne, etc. Each year my purpose has been to know God better, to love Him more, to know how He wants me to live as His child. A few years ago I added reading the psalter every month (5 psalms per day for 30 days; psalm 119 on each 31st day) in order to direct my prayer life Matthew 6:9-10 ESV – 9 Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

By God’s grace I will post daily with a response to what God says in His Word. However, I am not presuming anything. I don’t know what tomorrow will bring James 4:13-16 ESV – 13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”– 14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” 16 As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.

My desire is that as you read each day (or whatever days you decided to read) that you would be encouraged to be in the Word daily and pray continually. Psalm 16:5-11 ESV – 5 The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. 6 The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance. 7 I bless the LORD who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. 8 I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. 9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. 10 For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption. 11 You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

God truly is the strengh of my heart and my portion forever (Psalm 73). I pray that He is yours.

    1. “But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.”
      ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭73:28‬ ‭ESV‬‬
Sister, I am daily living this truth

I want to know what you think!
