Plea for Grace January 18, 2022

Matthew 12:25a ESV – 25 Knowing their thoughts, he said to them. . .

Isaiah 40:27-28 ESV – 27 Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, “My way is hidden from the LORD, and my right is disregarded by my God”? 28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.

Lord,

When my thoughts are of gratitude and worship for all You have done and how great and wonderful You are — You know my thoughts;

When my thoughts are of unbelief and fear and discontent and self-righteousness — You know my thoughts.

I am finite, human — I cannot completely understand You. But that is actually a comfort to me. You are great and sovereign and beyond understanding. You cannot be fooled or manipulated or bullied or overpowered. Your purpose will be accomplished. Your kingdom will come . . .

I repent when I think, even for a moment, that You should accomplish Your purpose “my way.” Psalm 18:30-31 ESV – 30 This God–his way is perfect; the word of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him. 31 For who is God, but the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God?–

Thank You for giving me Your Word, so I can see who You are and know Your perfect ways . . .

amen
