Plea for Grace February 27, 2022

Luke 14:25-27 ESV – 25 Now great crowds accompanied him, and he turned and said to them, 26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. 27 Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.

Psalm 119:12-16 ESV – 12 Blessed are you, O LORD; teach me your statutes! 13 With my lips I declare all the rules of your mouth. 14 In the way of your testimonies I delight as much as in all riches. 15 I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. 16 I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.

Lord,

You are not impressed with grand words based in emotionalism. You want my sincere heart. You don’t need anything; I desperately need Your mercy and Your steadfast love and faithfulness. I know that coming to You means leaving my agenda, my self-promotion, my bitterness, my unbelief. I have nothing of eternal value to offer, yet You promise me Your presence, Your care, Your faithfulness. You paid the just penalty for my sin and adopt me as Your child. You make an eternal home for me.

My words are not empty emotionalism — I am in awe of Your mercy, and I worship You as my Savior and my Lord
