Plea for Grace March 15, 2022

John 6:28-29 ESV – 28 Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”

We are so helpless to save ourselves. Yet we try to negotiate with God and prove our worth to Him. Every bit of talent and intelligence is a gift of God. Wisdom and understanding come from Him. Psalm 119:73 ESV – 73 Your hands have made and fashioned me; give me understanding that I may learn your commandments.

Lord, thank You for saving me. Thank You for Your wisdom and strength. Thank You for providing for me. Thank You for being with me always. Thank You for Your Word. You give me eternal life with You; I give You my unworthy self as Your servant. You give me Your strength and equip me to do Your will; I bring my weakness and total dependence upon You. Thank You for Your love and care.

  1. It must be our sinful human nature that makes us think there is anything we can do to save ourselves. And yet, over and over we are told to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. . . that’s it. How difficult it is to do something so simple. But it means putting aside “Me” and all that I think I can do. And sometimes, that is very hard to do.

I want to know what you think!
