Deuteronomy 20:8 ESV – 8 And the officers shall speak further to the people, and say, ‘Is there any man who is fearful and fainthearted? Let him go back to his house, lest he make the heart of his fellows melt like his own.’
My attitude matters. It just does. “Do as I say, not as I do” is a rationalization
Psalm 119:73-80 ESV – 73 Your hands have made and fashioned me; give me understanding that I may learn your commandments. 74 Those who fear you shall see me and rejoice, because I have hoped in your word.
Lord, I want people to see how faithful You are, how sufficient You are, how obedience to Your Word is good.
Psalm 119:75-77 ESV – 75 I know, O LORD, that your rules are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me. 76 Let your steadfast love comfort me according to your promise to your servant. 77 Let your mercy come to me, that I may live; for your law is my delight.
You are righteous; You are good; You are for me; You are sovereign. Remind me according to Your Word. Keep me thirsting for Your Word.
Psalm 119:78-80 ESV – 78 Let the insolent be put to shame, because they have wronged me with falsehood; as for me, I will meditate on your precepts. 79 Let those who fear you turn to me, that they may know your testimonies. 80 May my heart be blameless in your statutes, that I may not be put to shame!
Lord, when my “unfair-o-meter” goes crazy, I will run to You. You are my avenger; You remind me that sin is not an option for me just because others are doing it or because doing right is “hard.” But Lord, You don’t want me to be a hurt puppy whining in the corner. You want me to declare Your truth, Your Word. I am not responsible for how others obey Your Word (or not) but I am responsible to choose to obey You. What a gift that You have given Your Spirit to enable me to obey You. I am hopeless in my flesh! Romans 8:7-8 ESV – 7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot. 8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

As I acknowledged and confessed my struggle with my stinky attitude of helplessness, discontent and feelings of isolation and loneliness this morning, this meditation spoke to my heart and drew me to streams of living water and repentance. Thank you. ♥️
Isn’t the gift of repentance such a mercy of God! Thank you for sharing
