Proverbs 4:23-26 ESV - 23 Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life. 24 Put away from you crooked speech, and put devious talk far from you. 25 Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. 26 Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure.
Lord, if I don’t keep my heart (will, emotions, intellect) devoted to You, nothing else will really matter. A deceived and resentful heart will result in devious speech. An envious heart will turn my eyes to covet and lust after what You have not given. A proud heart will deceive me into thinking that I can “just try a little” or “it won’t matter this time” and soon I will be in places that will do me harm and lead me into sin.
Thank You for Your Word. You teach me, You train me, You renew my mind and strengthen my heart to obey You and love You more.
