Plea for Grace July 14, 2022

Psalm 14:1-7 ESV -
1 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good.
2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God.
3 They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one.
4 Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread and do not call upon the LORD?
5 There they are in great terror, for God is with the generation of the righteous.
6 You would shame the plans of the poor, but the LORD is his refuge.
7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.

Almighty God, There are so many “fools” in this world. What foolishness to think that we can determine our own destiny, and run our own lives. We can’t even control tomorrow! Lord, forgive us who are Your children when we start thinking that the fools of this world are mightier than You. You are God. You are the Sovereign King. You are our refuge and strength.

Father, I pray that the fools would repent. I pray that You would open their hearts to believe and humble them to turn from their wickedness and run to You for salvation. I pray that their wicked schemes would falter and that good judgment and just law would prevail. I pray for revival in our nation. Oh, that people would repent and humble themselves before Almighty God.

  1. James 2:13-17
13 Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” 16 As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. 17 If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them

    1. The arrogance of man— thinking we can do anything apart from God’s Sovereignty— is so deeply rooted in our sin nature. We so desperately need God’s saving grace

I want to know what you think!
