Plea for Grace September 2, 2022

Some prayer "requests" for your consideration:

Psalm 19:12-14 ESV -
12 Who can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden faults. 13 Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression. 14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.

I know I have blind spots. I know that I am prone to rationalize and minimize my actions. I know that pride will draw me as close to the edge of the ditch as I can go . . . I don’t want to be a fake person. I want my thoughts and motives to be godly as well as my actions.

Psalm 25:4-5 ESV -
4 Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. 5 Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.

It’s natural for me to want my own way, my own plans, my own timing. God wants to give me His good gifts, and sinces He is waaaay smarter than me . . . .

Psalm 86:6-7, 11 ESV -
6 Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; listen to my plea for grace. 7 In the day of my trouble I call upon you, for you answer me. … 11 Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name.
Psalm 119:10-11 ESV -
10 With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments! 11 I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

Psalm 119:18 ESV - 18 Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.

Psalm 119:28-29 ESV – 28 My soul melts away for sorrow; strengthen me according to your word! 29 Put false ways far from me and graciously teach me your law! Psalm 119:33-34 ESV – 33 Teach me, O LORD, the way of your statutes; and I will keep it to the end. 34 Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with my whole heart.

(side note: there are so many prayer requests in psalm 119!)

I so desperately need God to teach me His ways, His truth. This world is so full of lies and my heart is extremely deceitful (Jeremiah 17)

Philippians 4:4-7 ESV – 4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

  1. When I don’t know what to say, these verses come to my mind. Thank you Lord, for early memorization projects.

I want to know what you think!
