Plea for Grace September 10, 2022

James 1:5-8 ESV -
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.
7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Psalm 111:10 ESV - 10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!

Proverbs 9:10 ESV - 10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.

Lord, You are such a generous God. You do not humiliate me because I ask for wisdom. You do not berate me. You are generous as a loving Father.

But, as my Sovereign, as my Lord God Almighty, Your Word is not just some kind of ancient recommendation to consider in line with all of my other options. You are not my “fall back last ditch option” when everything else I have tried does not work. To fear the Lord means that I have chosen to obey You. Period. Your Word is righteous. Your Word is true. You made me, and You will fulfill Your purpose for me.

Help me to know You better. Give me the hunger for Your Word that I need to know how to obey You. Keep my mind focused on Your will and not to be proud and self-willed.

I praise You, most wonderful, generous and wise God!
