Plea for Grace September 15, 2022

Psalm 119:9-16 ESV -
9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.

How do I preserve/protect/put a hedge around this righteous blameless way of life that I want? Through reading/studying/meditating on and obeying God's Word.

10 With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments!

Lord, I love You with all my heart, but I am so prone to distraction; I am so prone to self-pity. Keep me obedient to Your Word. Make my selfishness unattractive!

11 I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

Lord, give me not only the desire to memorize Your word, but also the discipline and self-control to follow through . . .
12 Blessed are you, O LORD; teach me your statutes!
13 With my lips I declare all the rules of your mouth.

Yes, Father, I will speak Your Word and Your truth. You teach me Your statutes so I can tell of Your marvelous works
14 In the way of your testimonies I delight as much as in all riches.

I do delight in the way of righteousness. Even when it's a bad day. Even when it feels empty and alone. I know that those feelings are not the truth. You are always with me. You teach me from Your Word, and Your word is true and faithful.

15 I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways.
16 I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.

I will meditate and memorize because Your Word changes me. You show me the deceitful lies of my heart and give me Your truth.
I will delight in Your statutes, for You are true and holy and good on good days, and on days when symptoms are persistent.
Your word is such a merciful and generous gift. Thank You for Yours presence and for Your Word.
