Psalm 37:23-24 ESV – 23 The steps of a man are established by the LORD, when he delights in his way; 24 though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the LORD upholds his hand.
Father,
Just as You established every detail for the life and service of the Israelite priests and for the sacrifices, You know my life. I want to know Your ways and delight in Your ways. You are with me always, in success and failure, in sorrow and joy, in affliction and ease. I am Your child. You are my Father. You will care for me and I will be with You forever.
Lord, I want to be the good fertile soil that the seed in Jesus’ parable is planted. I want to receive Your Word and obey Your ways. I don’t want to be distracted by the cares of this world or by temporary affliction; I don’t want to be drawn away by unbelief and doubt in Your sovereignty over all. I want the listening and understanding heart and ears to hear You . . .

Day 6: Ask God to be with believers who have been
kidnapped. Pray for their release and their wounds.
The first three words of verse 24 caught my attention, “though he fall”. Even when I am delighting in the Lord, I may fall, stumbled, trip. That’s the downside to living in this fallen world. The upside is the words that follow, “he will not be cast head long, for the Lord upholds his hand.” God’s got me. Even when I’m doing my best to live a life that pleases Him, something may come along and trip me up. But it’s not going to devastate me, because GOD. HOLDS. MY. HAND.
The perfect picture is holding the hand of your child, while walking. You can help direct his steps, but his little foot may find a rock that causes him to stumble. But he’s not going to face “destruction” because you’ve got his hand.
Thank you, God, for being my daddy, and holding my hand.
Amen! Such mercy
